How MAGA World is Wrong About Clean Energy

The Trump administration, with MAGA backing, has rolled back solar and EV tax credits, frozen funding for wind and solar generation, and ordered the Federal Gov’t to prioritize oil and gas production. They have discouraged investments in clean energy because Donald Trump has said that global warming is a hoax.

Sure, climate science involves concepts in physics unfamiliar to most people, but it also challenges our “worldview,” about “how the world works.” We’re used to 4 seasons of the year and don’t want to believe that record heat waves, violent storms, excessive flooding, polar ice caps melting, species becoming extinct are becoming a “new normal.” But the truth is that emissions from burning oil and gas are causing global warming – leading to harmful changes to climate all over the world.

The solution is to change our energy usage to electricity and produce most of that electricity with solar panels, wind turbines, and nuclear power. Electricity can be produced almost anywhere in the world without requiring natural gas pipelines or transportation of coal.

Converting our energy energy usage to electricity will make our lives better. All-electric homes have cleaner air, lower utility bills, storage batteries for backup power, and are more comfortable to live in. Electric vehicles are quiet, high-performing, and don’t need oil changes and tune-ups. Trump and MAGA World don’t seem to understand the advantages of clean energy and probably don’t give a damn.
