New Orleans Could be Under Water in 50 Years

A recent study at Tulane University has concluded that New Orleans could be under water in 50 years, from rising ocean levels, stronger hurricanes and sinking of the land caused by extraction of oil in the region.

The sea level is about 2 feet higher than in 1950, and the ground beneath the city is sinking by about a half an inch a year
